Green and Red Tomatoes

2.5x3.5 watercolor vegetable still life of two tomatoes sharing a single stem.  This miniature was drawn and painted today on Canson 140 lb cold press paper and is an ACEO art card (Artists Cards Editions & Originals).  I like to use complementary colors such as red and green together in a composition for a really energized color burst.

Windowsill Veggies

15x22 watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper, painted wet in wet a few years ago, a still life of bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic and potted herbs in a sunny windowsill.  I painted this again as a demo for east Texas painters and that one has a red bell in front.  Some negative work was done on the plant leaves.  This piece is SOLD.

Bell Peppers

6x6 watercolor on paper, done today of bell peppers on the vine, back when we got rain and could grow vegetables.  (Temp was 106 F. today)  I started doing a contour line drawing with Pigma Micron 01 pen then decided to color it in with complementary hues of greens and reds.

Tomato Time

5.5x8 watercolor drawn from life yesterday using Pigma Micron 03 pen on Strathmore Visual Journal paper.  I had bought a couple of vine tomatoes so drew those two then added the other three at random as if they all had joined stems.

Some Like it Hot! still life

15x11 watercolor still life of table top vegetables work in progress is now completed.  Today shadows were added using cobalt violet, cerulean blue, quinacridone magenta, permanent rose, yellow ochre, olive green, sap green, quinacridone red in an attempt to tie all elements together.  I darkened most of the colander holes and added stems that were waiting until the end.  This was a fun and colorful one to do, now on to the next endeavor.  I hope you like it!
