Jar of Daisies Reflections
6x6 acrylics on Masters Touch sketchbook paper done week before last. This was in answer to an online challenge that required using acrylics with any type reflections, so I chose my own daisies in a glass jar for the floral still life.

Summer Sunflower Chickadee
4x6 watercolor on 140 lb Canson cold press paper done last week. I first did an underpainting using the three primaries. When dry, the drawing/sketch was done over the painted area and then developed. This miniature is based on two other chickadees and sunflowers already painted and sold.

May Pansies

Prickly Pear Shadows

Buffalo Sunset

Mission Stormy Sky

Tribal Dance
30x22 acrylic abstract painted wet in wet on Arches 140 lb cold press paper that reminded me of a tribal dance of Native Americans. Parts of this painting could be leather, handmade jewelry, carved items, etc., as they toss and turn in the air.

Red Cross Southwest Still Life
22x30 acrylics and crayon on 140 lb Arches cold press paper done this past weekend; using black India ink for accent marks in this simple southwestern still life. Objects for the still life were set up during a trip to Odessa years ago. Flowers in pottery vases were painted with watercolor.

Prickly Pear Cactus Surprise
6x6 watercolor, India ink, and gel pen in Masters Touch sketchbook done a few days ago, a quick design to use up colors for a mixed black (Permanent Brown (Daniel Smith), phthalo green (Dick Blick), and Indanthrene blue (Holbein). When dry black ink dropper tip used to make scattered line marks for the prickly pear cactus pods and white gel pen for other marks such as thorns and spots.

A Native Dancer

Spirit Hunters and Coyote
15x22 acrylics and watercolor on Fabriano 140 lb hot press paper done last week over an older toy tigers painted in 2009. I flipped it upside down then sketched the figures with Tombow brush pen nib. A line drawing I also did before served as the outlines for this recycled Southwestern watermedia piece. Tiger stripes went well with the new subject.

Desert Yuccas
8x8 gouache over charcoal sketch of desert yucca plants done last Monday, first of May. Not sure where I got this decorated paper but it proved to be a nice support for the colorful dry vegetation. Using an older yucca sketch of ink line and wash, the plants were quickly sketched and then painted. My original sketch was from a New Mexico scene.

Pink Geraniums in Orange Pot
